STUDIO ALLOCATION POLICY

We welcome applications from practicing artists from all sectors of the community.

Studios are offered to artists as they become available either when an artist leaves a current studio space or through a new Tannery Arts studio building.

As we are a small organisation turnover is low. If you are seeking a studio space please register your interest by email by downloading a studio requirements form and sending a completed copy:

Applications/enquiries more than twelve months old are removed from the waiting list. Please re-register if you are still seeking studio.

MEMBERSHIP POLICY

Membership to Tannery Arts is conferred automatically on artists having tenancies, or sub-tenancies, with Tannery Arts.  The benefits of membership include:

New members may be admitted following a screening process by the Tannery Arts Board of Directors.  Studio space is let to artists who the Board deems can be accommodated under the terms of its Objects. The Board also takes into consideration the Artist applicants’ ability and willingness to assist the Charity in its public benefit Objects.

Tenants are obliged to sign an Agreement accepting the conditions of tenancy. The conditions exist to safeguard the Charity from misuse of the studios or non-payment of rent.

Tannery Arts is a member of the National Housing Federation (NHF) and uses the NHF’s Rules of Association as a model for its own.

Tannery Arts is also a member of the National Federation of Artists Studio Providers (NFASP). Membership (by annual subscription fee) of NFASP is conferred on UK based, not for profit or charitable studio groups who are able to prove they provide affordable studio space to fine artists.  In exchange for membership NFASP provides its members with advice and support.  NFASP also advocates and lobbies on behalf of its members to local authorities, DCMS, and the central government the value of artists’ studios and the public benefit to the communities in which they are located.
